Man United hand supporters ‘fresh kick in the teeth’

Man United supporters have been left angered by the latest significant decision taken by co-owner Jim Ratcliffe ahead of next season.

The Red Devils suffered one of their worst ever campaigns in Ratcliffe’s first full season in control of the football operations through INEOS, finishing just 15th in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, the 72-year-old’s cost-cutting measures have come under serious scrutiny since he was handed sporting control at Old Trafford.

Man United currently face a vital summer transfer window as Ruben Amorim looks to make more additions after signing Matheus Cunha from Wolves.

Man United supporters furious with ticket prices

Man United have announced they have increased their ticket prices for games at Old Trafford next season.

The majority of the Red Devils’ Premier League fixtures will fall under ‘Category B’, which is priced at £57- £86, which has further lowered the mood around the club.

As reported by BBC Sport’s Simon Stone via X [18 June], the Manchester United Supporters Trust has issued an unhappy announcement: “This really is a fresh kick in the teeth for Manchester United fans. When the club said they were introducing this new model for Members tickets, we urged them to keep the majority of matches at current levels and only apply the highest price category for a small number of the biggest games, and reduced prices for lower demand games.

“Once again, they have failed to consult any of the fans representative bodies on the details of the decision, and once again they’re making choices against the interests of fans and, we believe, the club as a whole.”

Aston Villa are interested in Jadon Sancho

While Man United supporters are disgruntled with next season’s ticket prices, the Red Devils faithful have also been left far from impressed by their side’s on-field performances in recent months.

The Old Trafford club could have handed themselves significant respite from their Premier League woes if they managed to beat Tottenham in last month’s Europa League final.

However, Amorim’s men instead suffered a 1-0 defeat to the North Londoners, epitomising how much work they have to do in the summer transfer window.

But as Amorim looks to strengthen his squad, Man United will also have to allow some of their current players to leave Old Trafford ahead of next season.

Meanwhile, former Red Devils chief scout Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider that Unai Emery’s Aston Villa want to sign Jadon Sancho.

The North West giants held high hopes for Sancho after signing him from Borussia Dortmund in 2021, but he has failed to meet expectations and spent last season on loan with Chelsea.
