Kieran Maguire: The Glazers ‘can’t justify this’ as Man United takeover talks staged in Qatar
The Glazers may not be able to justify the highest possible price for Man United on a full-sale basis – and they are therefore keeping their options open with regard to a partial sale.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Avram Glazer’s recent remarks regarding the structure of a future sale of United.
The Glazers announced in November that they would entertain offers to buy into the Red Devils, with many analysts claiming that this likely meant a full takeover.

But as quoted by The Athletic last Thursday (15 December), Avram Glazer said: “It’s not necessarily a sale, it’s a process and we’re going forward with the process, so we’ll see what happens.”
The same outlet reported last Sunday (18 December) that the 62-year-old has held talks with potential investors during his visit to Qatar.
Maguire explained why the deeply unpopular American family would consider retaining a stake in the club they appear keen to cash in on.
“You can see the rationale from Avram Glazer here,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“Ideally, the Glazers would want a full sale because they can get a higher price that way.
“The noises that are coming out of Anfield is that it is going to be a partial sale of 10 to 15 per cent. I think the Glazers are therefore covering all eventualities.

“What the Glazers don’t want to do is back themselves into a corner by saying it is going to be a full sale.
“If they did that, they might not get the type of prices that they are going to justify on a fundamental financial analysis.
