Finance guru: Man United set for £119m boost as Glazer gift explained
Man United are set to earn an extra £8million per season after they boost capacity by around 6,000 at Old Trafford.
That is the view of finance expert Doctor Dan Plumley, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the long-mooted plans to revamp the stadium.
The Daily Mail reported last Thursday (23 December) that United are set to choose a master planner to oversee the project at Old Trafford.

New plans will likely see the stadium’s capacity rise from 74,140 to above 80,000 as blueprints are considered to enlarge the South Stand.
The Red Devils earned £110.8m in matchday income in 2018-19, the last full non-Covid-hit season.
Plumley explained why he expects to see that figure rise to close to £119m.
“If we take it on a base level, we can do some crude estimates,” the Sheffield Hallam University expert told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“If you look at the total amount of matchday income pre-Covid and divide it by the number of seats, you get the average matchday income per seat.
“That works out at about £1450, so if you times that by the extra seats, that gets you to just over £8m.
“It’s a crude estimate and it involves a lot of guesswork but it’s as good an estimate as we can do at the moment. It’s a big jump.
“One thing that’s been said about the Glazers is that they don’t invest in infrastructure, and I think that is wrapped up in this too.
“After the Super League fallout, they are trying to claw back some favour from the fans.”

Both corporate and general admission areas are set to be improved as part of the revamp.
There are also designs to improve the facilities at Carrington, the club’s training complex.
