Man United tipped to accept Bruno Fernandes offer after ‘big’ twist
Man United may be forced to sell key players like Bruno Fernandes due to their current financial situation.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who states that Champions League qualification is vital for Man United.
Man United’s first quarter financial results showed a huge amount of debt was continuing to increase at the club.
Fernandes has been linked with a Man United exit, whilst Ruben Amorim still wants to offload members of his ‘bomb squad’ to free up space in his budget.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe ‘determined’ to turn Man United fortunes around
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has already warned Man United that they may not be able to afford Antoine Semenyo in January.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness believes not qualifying for the Champions League could create a “problem” for Man United.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I think they would be looking to try and cash in [on Fernandes], because he’s one of the players that’s got some value. He’s been incredibly consistent for them, and I think nearly everything has gone through him at some stage with United.
“So it would be a big loss for them. But financially, Jim Ratcliffe’s determined to try and turn things around. Now, I think it won’t be in January, but I do think the decision will be made depending on Champions League or not Champions League qualification.
“This is a big, big thing for United to get that this year. If they don’t get it, it’s a problem for them, and it’s going to create bigger financial pressure, and I think some key players would have to move in the summer. But that’s where I think it sits in terms of a decision on Bruno will probably be made in the summer.”

Man United target £15m January addition
Man United could sign Ruben Neves for just £15million in January amid their search for a new midfielder.
Neves has previous Premier League experience with Wolves, and knows Matheus Cunha from his time at Molineux.
The 28-year-old currently plays for Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal, and Newcastle are also in the race to sign the Portugal international.
