Man United tipped to ‘easily’ appoint Erik Ten Hag after update in last 24 hours – pundit

Edwin van der Sar could help Man United appoint Erik ten Hag as their new manager this summer.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after an update on the Ajax boss’ future.

On Thursday (24 March) Sky Sports reported Man United held “positive” talks with Ten Hag on Monday.

Ex-Red Devils stopper Van Der Sar is the current Chief executive at Ajax and Kenny insists this could lead to a smooth transition for Ten Hag.

“This should have been done months ago, just after Solskjaer left,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“The whole interim manager thing was just never going to work.

“I don’t see a plan at Man United, that’s a big problem that has to change in the summer.

“if it is going to be Ten Hag, you could see it getting done quite easily.

“Van Der Sar is at Ajax and I’m sure he would do Man United a favoured if Ten Hag wasn’t to leave.

“Whatever happens, they need to get him in as soon as the season is over.

“We can’t be a month away from next season and they are still looking for a new manager.

“So, it sounds promising, this is all good progress and you just hope they get someone announced soon.”

Ten Hag’s Ajax deal runs until the summer of 2023.

He has been in charge of de Godenzonen since December 2017 and has won two league titles with the club.

In other news, Jadon Sancho and one of his ‘brilliant’ Man United teammates have been tipped to explode after a development on Thursday.
