Man United tipped to execute ‘perfect plan’ in January after source’s transfer reveal – pundit

Man United are preparing to execute the “perfect plan” when it comes to January signings.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Red Devils’ transfer plans.

On Tuesday (21 December), this site revealed Man United have told Ralf Rangnick he can only make loan signings in January.

A Man United source has told Football Insider that the club’s owners are taking a pragmatic approach in the mid-season window.

The Red Devils spent heavily last summer (2021) bringing Raphael Varane, Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo to Old Trafford.

Kenny claims loaning players in January could be the “perfect plan” considering Rangnick won’t be in the dugout next season.

“Rangnick’s not going to be there next season,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“To me, that makes sense. That’s all I’m thinking. Obviously, if loans don’t work out, you don’t have to sign the player.

“That stops the next manager, whoever he is, from having a load of players he doesn’t want.

“Yes, it’s the perfect plan. If the new manager likes whoever comes in on loan then he can buy them.

“If he doesn’t like them then there is no harm done and they go back to their club.

“That’s the only thing I can think of. Man United’s transfer strategy has been pretty poor in recent years.

“Not really in terms of who they have signed but in terms of how much they have paid for those players.

“So taking a more measured approach makes sense to me.”
