Kieran Maguire tips Man United to make ‘Bayern Munich’ move after behind-the-scenes update

Man United may be looking to follow the Bayern Munich model and squeeze massive income from the “prawn sandwich brigade.”

So says finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about United’s plans to revamp Old Trafford’s corporate spaces.

Per the Daily Mail last Thursday, United are set to add 6,000 seats to the Theatre of Dreams in both general admission and hospitality areas.

The Red Devils are in the process of hiring a master planner to oversee the redevelopment, which will be targeted at the stadium’s South Stand.

Maguire claimed that whoever is charged with masterminding the project should take inspiration from Bayern’s success at the Allianz Arena.

“A lot will depend on what proportion of those additional seats are going to be boxes and corporate hospitality,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.

“Look at a club like Bayern Munich, for example. They say they get as much money from the 6,000 corporate seats as they do from 54,000 regular fans.

“United average £1,500 per fan, per season but that figure is very much skewed by the prawn sandwich brigade.

“United have a lot of prawn sandwich fans. It pays to be able to make as much money as you possibly can out of that demographic.”

Maguire told this site yesterday (31 December) that United could trouser an extra £10million per season after the redevelopment.

They are also understood to be gearing up to improve their Carrington training complex.
