Man United tipped to win Sven Botman race after source’s update – pundit

Man United still have the pulling power to sign Sven Botman despite him being in talks with AC Milan.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Red Devils’ summer plans.

On 17 May, this site revealed Man United are hijacking AC Milan’s deal for the 22-year-old defender.

The Italian giants are in advanced talks to sign Botman in a deal worth around £25million.

Now, a Man United source has told Football Insider that the club are exploring a move for Botman in what amounts to a sensational twist.

Kenny insists the Red Devils still have the pulling power to lure Botman despite their failure to secure Champions League football for next season.

“They still have that pulling power, they can give him something to think about,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Off the pitch, they are still the biggest club in the world. That pulling power is still there.

“There is 80,000 at Old Trafford every weekend. It’s an iconic stadium. They have a new manager and there is renewed hope there.

“We haven’t been used to how Man United have been playing recently but they still have that name.

“If Man United want him, they will get him. I’m sure of that. It would be a statement as well and I’m sure that’s what they want.”

Man United fans are growing tired

Newcastle tried to sign Botman during the January transfer window and they remain keen on him this summer.

The Netherlands Under-21 star is under contract at Stade Pierre-Mauroy until 2025.
