‘Man United to accept £35m Andre Onana bid from Spanish club ‘

Man United goalkeeper Andre Onana has been in the firing line in recent weeks after a number of high-profile mistakes.

The 29-year-old was dropped for Altay Bayindir for the 4-1 loss against Newcastle but has since been restored to Ruben Amorim’s starting lineup.

Onana joined Man United in 2023 and has more than three years left to run on his contract at Old Trafford.

Football Insider revealed on 22 April that Man United are aware replacing the under-pressure goalkeeper will put a “severe” dent in their summer transfer budget.

But Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed United could be happy to take a £10million hit on the Cameroon international.

Man United will accept £35m Onana bid’, says Wyness

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness suggested a parting of the ways could be good for all parties this summer.

Onana cost £45million including add-ons when he was signed from Inter Milan almost two years ago.

Wyness insisted he could see the FA Cup winner thriving in Spain in the future.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “He cost around £45million, including add-ons.

“I’m guessing, by appearances, he would have achieved those add-ons.

“It’s a big fee – but not as big as some other goalkeepers. He would probably command a transfer overseas.

“I could see him in Spain.

“I don’t think Man United would get the full amount back. They’d be looking at around £35million.

“He’s certainly found it difficult in the last few months, and it’s never been completely happy throughout his time at the club.

“A move would be good for all parties this summer. There is talent in Onana, but there are other parts of his game which still need work.

“There will be a loss, but I don’t see it being too severe.”

Man United weigh up Mbeumo swoop

Meanwhile, former Red Devils scout Mick Brown has told Football Insider (22 April) that Man United are eyeing a move to sign Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo ahead of the summer transfer window.

Brentford are set to demand a “huge fee” for their star man with Football Insider revealing that Mbeumo has a £50million asking price.

Arsenal are also long-term admirers of the Cameroon international, who has scored 18 Premier League goals this season.
