Man United to accept cut-price Harry Maguire offer – sources

Harry Maguire is set to leave Manchester United this summer as part of the planned overhaul of the squad, sources have told Football Insider.

The England international’s contract is set to expire in June 2025, prompting the club to cash in on the centre-back before he could leave for free next year.

It means United will accept a cut-price offer this summer, with around £20million likely to be enough to seal a deal.

That would represent an enormous transfer fee loss of £60m on a player signed from Leicester City in 2019 for £80m.

Reports have suggested the Red Devils are now willing to sell the majority of their first-team players this summer as Sir Jim Ratcliffe looks to stamp his authority on proceedings.

The Old Trafford chief may, however, not be able to sell all the players he wants due to the risk of leaving the squad too thin ahead of next season.

Football Insider revealed on 7th May that Raphael Varane, Casemiro, Jonny Evans and Christian Eriksen have been earmarked as the first four players the club will look to move on this summer

Maguire is also fairly high on the list due to his contract situation despite the 31-year-old forcing his way back into the starting line-up this season.

He has made 18 Premier League starts among 31 appearances in all competitions this season and has only failed to start three league matches since January.

Harry Maguire part of expected Man United exodus

Ratcliffe and transfer guru Jason Wilcox are expected to have a busy summer on their hands as they aim to lower the age of the Man United squad.

They are keen to build around the youthful core of Alejandro Garnacho, Rasmus Hojlund and Kobbie Mainoo, who have been the shining lights in an otherwise dismal campaign.

It’s likely there will also be a new manager in place after Football Insider revealed on 7 May that Erik ten Hag will be sacked following the 4-0 defeat against Crystal Palace.

Maguire, who has long been linked with a move away from the Red Devils, is now expected to be part of the Old Trafford exodus.

Man United chiefs will be hoping the centre-back has a strong European Championships with England this summer to potentially increase his value in the transfer window.
