‘Man United to sell Andre Onana’ – Fans react to Ruben Amorim reveal

Man United fans believe Ruben Amorim is already planning for life after Andre Onana following his recent comments on the goalkeeper.

The under-pressure shot-stopper has made several mistakes this season, most recently being blamed for Ipswich Town’s earlier opening goal on Wednesday (26 February).

Jaden Philogene pounced on a mix-up between Onana and new signing Patrick Dorgu, then bagging his brace just before half-time but only after a Sam Morsy own goal and Matthjas de Ligt evened the score.

Harry Maguire’s header saved the side from embarrassment, but it was a tough watch at Old Trafford.

He does, however, have seven clean sheets to his name, only bettered by five other Premier League goalkeepers, and sources inside the Man United dressing room suggest players believe victories are more luck than anything else.

Supporters are only becoming more and more frustrated with their goalkeeper’s below-par performances, and now some believe that Amorim is turning on the player ahead of the summer transfer window.

Man United fans read into Ruben Amorim’s “future” comments

Speaking to the media [28 February], Amorim said: “Onana did some great saves that saved our team and sometimes had some problems – but that is normal.

“I think if you look at our team you can find a lot of players with that issue. We just have to support Andre, preparing for the future.”

While Onana’s mistakes cannot be fully to blame for the Red Devils’ form, his performances at the back provide zero confidence for the centre-backs and continue to cause chaos at Old Trafford.

Man United are currently sitting 14th in the Premier League, with 11 games remaining, and are 14 points outside of the top-four spots – a far cry from where the club were under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Andre Onana to be sold as Man United mistakes become too much

Signing for over £47million in the summer of 2023, his displays have seen some fans asking for David de Geat to return to Man United following his move to Fiorentina.

Many believe Amorim’s “nonsense” comments on the current goalkeeper are rather telling, suggesting the manager has “nothing else to say” because he already wants to sell the player.

The Red Devils have already been told to accept £30million for the player, it is easy to see a portion of supporters happy with him leaving for free once the transfer window opens.
