Man United to sell first-team star at big loss – ‘He will be out the door’

Manchester United could be set to suffer a big loss as one of their first-team midfield players looks to be leaving the club.

Man United beat Sunderland 2-0 last weekend, a result which slightly lifted the pressure on Ruben Amorim.

However, the Portuguese manager must improve his side’s current Premier League position of 10th in order to keep his job for the long term.

The Red Devils have spent poorly in recent times and were forced to offload ‘bomb squad’ players like Jadon Sancho and Rasmus Hojlund on loan over the summer, as interested clubs weren’t willing to meet the full price tag.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that Casemiro has no future at Old Trafford, and will be gone at the end of the season.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that the Brazilian’s departure will be yet another example of the Red Devils taking a big loss on a player.

Casemiro’s Man United contract expires this summer, meaning that the club will earn back none of the £60million they paid Real Madrid back in 2022.

Wyness added that the midfielder has failed to control games, and that there have been question marks over his speed at the age of 33.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I think he’ll be out the door, I’m pretty clear on that. I think he’s been blamed in many ways for being part of the problem.

“Although he has performed creditably, I don’t think he has really taken control, and taken games by the scruff of the neck as a player of his quality and calibre should do. So I think he’ll be gone.

“There’s been a lot of talk about his speed and I think that he will be gone at the end of the season, and I think there’ll be a market for him. It’ll be another one in the red ink column for Man United though.”

Man United consider future of another midfielder

Meanwhile, Man United could be open to selling Bruno Fernandes next summer if Saudi clubs return with offers worth upwards of £100m.

That is according to their former chief scout Mick Brown, who claims that United could be tempted to cash in on Fernandes and reinvest elsewhere.

The 31-year-old rejected the chance to leave Old Trafford over the summer, turning down a big-money offer to stay with the Red Devils.

However, Football Insider revealed on 15 September that Fernandes could be tempted to leave Man United if they fail to show considerable improvements on last season’s failure.
