Man United told to agree new Edinson Cavani deal after source's reveal

Man United should offer Edinson Cavani a new deal as he is the best striker at the club.

That’s according to former West Ham hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Red Devils’ attacking options.

Cavani, 35, is out of contract this summer and has struggled for game time this season.

He has made 17 appearances but only seven of those have been starts.

On Thursday (28 April) Football Insider revealed Arsenal have registered their interest in signing Marcus Rashford with £45million set aside to secure a deal.

McAvennie insists Man United should sell Rashford and keep Cavani for another season.

“Rashford hasn’t done anything this season,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Cavani, if he had the same chances, he would be on the same amount of goals as Ronaldo.

“He’s the best finisher at the club, probably the best out and out striker because I’m not sure Ronaldo has a position.

“He is a brilliant striker and he’s leaving for nothing in a few months.

“Look at the options Man United have, or lack of options I should say.

“Don’t let Cavani go. Give him a new deal and let Rashford go. Then reinvest that money on a younger striker.

“I can’t speak highly enough of Cavani, I just can’t believe they are letting him go.”

Football Insider revealed last month that Rashford has admitted to friends he could quit Old Trafford this summer.

Rashford has only started 12 Premier League games so far this season, scoring just four goals in the competition.

In other news, Ten Hag has already been hit by a critical Man United blow after a source’s ‘£50m’ reveal.
