Man United told to axe Rashford and two other stars who ‘aren’t trying’ – pundit

Frank McAvennie has told Man United to stop playing Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood.

The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claims the Red Devils’ proven stars are the solution to their woes.

Man United were beaten 1-0 by Wolves on Tuesday (4 January) in a severe blow to their top-four hopes.

Man United

On Tuesday night the Mirror reported some Man United players are underwhelmed by Ralf Rangnick’s appointment and are not impressed by his tactics.

However, McAvennie claims it is the club’s young stars who need to take the blame.

“They keep harping on about giving youth a chance but I can’t believe what I’ve seen recently,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“You look at Rashford, Sancho and Greenwood, they have all the potential in the world.

“The fact is, they aren’t doing it on the pitch. They have not been good enough this season. It looks like they aren’t trying.

“You have proven players sitting on the bench who aren’t being given a chance.

“You have to play the players who are performing and Rashford has been terrible this season.

“I get Man United want them to be big stars and have them playing every week.

“But they never track back, no wonder they concede so many goals.

“None of the players like Rangnick apparently, I feel sorry for him. I wouldn’t fancy managing that bunch.”

Man United
