Man United told to complete Joao Felix hijack – ‘wow, what a signing’, says pundit
Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted Man United should move to beat Chelsea in the race for on-loan attacker Joao Felix this summer.
The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst should be sold in the off-season – and also warned Antony and Jadon Sancho about their below-par contributions.
According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo (1 April), Man United are interested in a deal for Felix this summer – and could pip Chelsea to a deal if the Atletico Madrid star is available for a “favourable” price tag.
The report claims Chelsea’s probable lack of Champions League football in the 2023-24 campaign could factor into the forward’s final decision.
Felix arrived at Stamford Bridge on loan in January for a reported loan fee of almost £10million – but there is no option to buy in the deal.
The Portugal international has managed two goals in his first 12 outings for Chelsea.
Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I really like what he’s done so far.
“I’ve seen a different side to him at Chelsea. At Atletico, he was playing too deep and wasn’t suited to how they play.
“At Chelsea, you see him getting on the ball, twisting past players – and he’s got a bit of pace as well. I really like him, but he’s got to be more clinical.
“I don’t see any reason why Man United can’t get him. They need options if they’re in the Champions League next season.
“Martial isn’t good enough, nor is Weghorst – scrap them. Antony and Sancho haven’t been great, so you’re talking about Rashford as their only threat.

“They need help, or it could be an embarrassing time in the Champions League for them.
“Felix, for me, would be a good signing for them.”
In other news, Man United “domino effect” could land them World Cup winner this summer.
