Man United told to forget Alexander Isak after source’s Erling Haaland reveal – pundit

Man United should forget Alexander Isak and go all out to beat Man City to the signing of Erling Haaland this summer.

That is the view of 2000 European Golden Shoe winner Kevin Phillips, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Red Devils need to go for “the best players in the world.”

Man United are weighing up potential striker targets ahead of the summer transfer window.

Man United

As reported by the Daily Mail (12 February), Ralf Rangnick’s side are considering a move for Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak.

The Sweden international, who has a £76million release clause, has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal.

When asked by Football Insider which striker United should target, Phillips said: “It depends how big United are going to aim.

“The obvious one is Haaland. There is not many clubs in the world who can afford him but Manchester United are one of them. It would be a huge statement if they can get him.

“Isak is a good player but is he a world-class player who is going to light up Old Trafford? He’d do a job.

“If United want to get anywhere near City they need to get players like Haaland. But it depends what route they want to go down.

“In my opinion, Man United should be going for the best players in the world. Haaland is one of them.”

Arsenal

A Man City source told Football Insider (12 February) that the club are in pole position to sign Haaland this summer.

The striker’s father, Alf-Inge, is understood to be pushing for a move to the Etihad.
