Man United told to ‘go and pay £80m for Harry Kane’ after source’s reveal – pundit

Frank McAvennie has urged Man United against taking a “gamble” on Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said United need to stop spending so much money on “players that might work”.

According to the Mirror (24 May), the Red Devils have been told they will need to pay £140million if they want to sign Osimhen from the Italian champions.

The 24-year-old, who has two years left on his Napoli deal, is on the Manchester club’s shortlist as they search for a new number nine this summer.

Tottenham’s Harry Kane is also high up on Erik ten Hag’s striker shortlist and the club have been working on a deal for the 29-year-old.

On 26 April, Football Insider revealed that United could prise Kane away from the London club for around £85m.

McAvennie told Man United to focus their efforts on Kane instead of Osimhen.

Osimhen is still a gamble whereas Harry Kane is not a gamble,” he told Football Insider.

I do not think United will pay that for anyone.

Chelsea

Do they want to spend that money for a gamble or go and pay £80m for Harry Kane who is a certainty to score you 25 goals? It is a no brainer for me.

Man United have got to stop spending fortunes on players that might work. The Premier League is a different game from everywhere else. It is not as easy as what people think.
