Man United transfer news: Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS decide on priority signing – Sources
Man United new owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS outfit have made a striker their summer transfer priority, sources have told Football Insider.
The billionaire and his team, now in charge of footballing operations at Old Trafford, are keen to add to the club’s firepower in the off-season.
That is despite the big-money arrival of Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta last summer (2023).
Hojlund has recently hit form after a slow start at Old Trafford, and has now managed 13 goals and two assists in 30 appearances.
Ratcliffe ready to seal striker swoop as first Man United signing
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that United boss Erik ten Hag is also keen to bolster his striking options ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.
The Red Devils are threadbare in attack at present with Hojlund and Anthony Martial both currently on the treatment table.
Marcus Rashford will be the favourite to fill in and lead the line but it is widely accepted by fans and pundits alike that his best role is on the left wing.
Ratcliffe finalised his 27.7% investment in Man United earlier this week and confirmed his ambition to return Premier League and Champions League glory to the club.

Dan Ashworth could play a key role in the recruitment of a new forward after he agreed to become United’s new sporting director.
Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (21 February) that Newcastle are likely to reach a compensation compromise over Ashworth’s move to Old Trafford after placing him on gardening leave.
