Man United transfer news: Zidane Iqbal reaches full agreement with FC Utrecht – sources

Man United sensation Zidane Iqbal has reached a full agreement with Dutch side FC Utrecht, sources have told Football Insider.

Terms have been agreed with the Red Devils on a permanent deal and the finishing touches of a move are now ready to be applied with final documents being completed.

Man United have granted permission for Iqbal, 20, to leave the club – even though he signed a contract extension at Old Trafford just last summer (2022).

The midfielder penned a three-year deal with the option for an extra 12 months but is now set to move to the Eredivisie on a permanent basis.

Iqbal posted an emotional goodbye on his Instagram account on Thursday (22 June), in which he claimed the time was right to take on a new challenge.

He has played for United in the Champions League and was on the bench seven times last season in the Premier League.

The Iraq international made 55 appearances for the club’s Under-18, Under-19 and Under-21 sides, notching 11 goals and three assists.

Iqbal can play in a range of midfield roles, including as a holding midfielder, in the ‘number ten’ role and on both flanks.

He is set to join youth stars Ethan Galbraith, Di’Shon Bernard, Eric Hanbury, Charlie Wellens and Manni Norkett in leaving Old Trafford this summer.

They were not part of Man United’s retained list published earlier this month (16 June).
