Man United twist: Stefan Borson stunned by club’s media leak
Manchester United made a “very strange” decision to hold a leaked public meeting to discuss the future of Erik ten Hag and other club issues.
That is the view of former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider someone must have tipped off the press after photos emerged of club figures attending the meeting.
Man United have made their worst start to a league season in 35 years as they currently sit 14th in the Premier League table.
The Manchester giants’ hierarchy held a meeting at the INEOS offices in Knightsbridge on 8 October, where Ten Hag’s future was discussed.
But United have insisted it was a regular meeting that was already planned in the diary, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Joel Glazer present alongside chief executive Omar Berrada, sporting director Dan Ashworth and technical director Jason Wilcox.
Man United made ‘very odd’ meeting decision
Borson believes it’s “very odd” the meeting wasn’t held in private.
He told Football Insider: “I think it’s odd that they would have a very public seven-hour meeting, where clearly somebody tipped off the press where to be to get pictures of people going in.
“I don’t know why they did that.
“I don’t know why you would need to tell people that you were having the meeting in the first place, that the Glazers were flying in, why it needed to be held in their own office.
“It could easily have been held privately somewhere.

“It seems very odd to me, especially given that the outcome of it is that they are sticking by the decision that they made only three months ago anyway.
“It’s a very strange situation.”
