Man United vs Bournemouth postponement update as Met Office issue Manchester weather warning

Man United’s upcoming clash at home to Bournemouth could be affected by bad weather after a new Met Office update.

United romped to a 4-1 win against Wolves last time out as they survived a first-half scare to take the game away from the relegation strugglers after the interval.

Ruben Amorim has had his fair share of doubters at Old Trafford in the last year, but his side are currently in the midst of some strong form that has seen them lose just once in their last nine games.

Bournemouth‘s contrasting results have seen them slip to 13th in the Premier League as it stands, with Andoni Iraola‘s side failing to win any of their previous six fixtures.

They will travel to Old Trafford on Monday (15 December) evening, with fans of both teams needing to be aware of the impact the weather could have before and after the clash.

Met Office puts yellow weather warning in place close to Manchester ahead of Monday

Man United trio Amad Diallo, Bryan Mbeumo and Noussair Mazraoui are all set to be available to face the Cherries on Monday night before they each go to the African Cup of Nations with their respective countries.

The current weather forecast for the UK, and the Greater Manchester area in particular, likely means they are relishing getting to fly to Morocco for the tournament following the game at Old Trafford.

The Met Office have updated their website to issue a yellow weather warning of rain, which is set to cover the north and east areas of Manchester in particular from Friday (12 December) evening to Monday evening.

While Old Trafford is not set to be directly affected by the downpour, its close proximity means that fans must be wary of potential flooding and power cuts close by.

The main issue is likely to be increased traffic around the stadium due to fewer people being on foot, while supporters could also face delays on public transport like trains or buses.

United could sign Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo in January

United could move eight points ahead of Bournemouth with a win on Monday, which would highlight their improvement this season after they finished 14 points behind Iraola’s side in 2024-25.

Amorim is set to try and bolster his squad next month as they aim to compete for Champions League qualification, and Football Insider recently revealed that United are lining up a January move for Semenyo alongside Elliot Anderson.

The Ghanaian has registered six goals and three assists in 14 appearances this season, but the Red Devils face stern competition for his services from the likes of Liverpool and Man City.

If he does want to move to United soon, then Monday is as good a time as ever to prove that he has what it takes to perform at Old Trafford.
