Man United want to give Ruben Amorim a new left-back and already have more than three targets on their shortlist.
The Portuguese tactician, who arrived from Sporting Lisbon to succeed Erik ten Hag, is set to take charge of his first game this weekend against Ipswich Town (24 November).
The 39-year-old inherits a squad that has endured a disappointing start to the season, leaving significant areas of the team in need of reinforcement.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported that United have already compiled a three-player shortlist to address their left-back dilemma, with discussions underway regarding potential targets, and Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies is the only one named.
A January signing has not been ruled out but the move is thought more likely to wait wait until the end of the season.

A summer deal makes more sense, given the Red Devil’s restricted budget following a £200m outlay in the last transfer window.
The Red and White army have been linked with Davies who is out of contract at Bayern Munich at the end of the campaign, even if he isn’t the only candidate.
Davies’ attributes make him an ideal fit for the wing-back role in Amorim’s 3-4-3 system. His blistering pace, both on and off the ball, and ability to take on defenders align perfectly with the attacking demands Amorim places on his wing-backs.
Over the past two seasons, the 23-year-old has recorded 12 goal contributions in the Bundesliga – an impressive tally for a left-back.
Antonee Robinson’s consistent performances at Fulham have attracted attention from top English clubs. According to Opta for the Premier League, this season the American ranks among the division’s leading players for crosses into the penalty area (second), tackles (sixth) and interceptions (fifth) highlighting his all-around impact on both ends of the pitch.
