‘Man United will now accept cut-price Antony bid’ as £10m verdict issued
Antony’s Man United future still hangs in the balance with Ruben Amorim’s squad set to return for pre-season training in the coming weeks.
The winger, 25, spent the second half of the 2024-25 campaign on loan with Real Betis in La Liga and completely banished his Old Trafford woes.
He scored nine goals and notched five assists in 26 total appearances for the Seville-based outfit after coming to the end of the road at Man United.
Betis are now keen to land the winger on a permanent basis but have made no secret of their struggle to afford that deal.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has suggested a solution which will provide the best outcome for Man United, who spent a huge £86million to land him in 2022.
Man United told to sell Antony at £10m discount
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness claimed that although United could bank a bigger initial fee from selling him elsewhere – Antony is more likely to succeed and activate add-ons while playing for Betis.
Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen and Saudi Pro League clubs have also been linked with the winger, who was reduced to a fringe role from the start of the 2024-25 campaign at Old Trafford.
Wyness insisted Man United should accept a bid of £30million plus add-ons, rather than a potential £40million fee from elsewhere.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I think you’re going to be looking at about £30million plus add-ons for Antony.
“Betis, although they would love him and I think he’d love to stay there, I think there’ll be other clubs that may pay beyond that.
“They could even get up to £40million elsewhere. He’s played well in Betis, and I do think it’s that environment that’s got the best out of him.
“He would be best advised to stay there if he can do. I think United may get between £30-40million for him, which is a good price – they should grab whatever they can.
“The player may well say: ‘No, I want to stay here at Betis.’
“It may end up being £30million plus bonuses.. United may be well advised to take that because there’s every chance he’ll do well enough at Betis to make those bonus payments as well. I think it would be a good thing if they can get him to Betis.”

Man United’s goalkeeper plan revealed
Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (23 June) that Man United can only move for a new first-choice goalkeeper this summer if Andre Onana leaves the club.
Sources say Man United value Onana at between £35-40million as they remain open to moving him on this summer.
The Red Devils will also need to add a new back-up goalkeeper with Tom Heaton out of contract later this month.
