Man United’s Andre Onana reacts to Brighton ace Carlos Baleba amid exit rumours

Man United goalkeeper Andre Onana has reacted to a message from Brighton star Carlos Baleba amid rumours of a Liverpool move in the summer.

The 21-year-old joined the Seagulls in 2023 for £23.2million [Sky Sports] and was immediately hailed as “the future of the club” by then-manager Roberto De Zerbi.

In the following two seasons the former Lille midfielder has spent at the Amex, Baleba has established himself as one of the best young talents in the Premier League.

However, the Cameroonian’s performances have drawn interest from some of England’s biggest clubs and Brighton face a challenge this summer retaining his services.

Carlos Baleba tells fans ‘it’s more than just football’

Baleba and Onana spent the international break with Cameroon, attempting to aide their country’s efforts in qualifying for the 2026 World Cup in North America.

A win over Libya and a draw with Eswatini leaves the Indomitable Lions a point behind Cape Verde in their group.

Following the win, Baleba posted a message to fans saying: “Cameroon, 2 games to go. 1 reminder.
It’s more than just football… It’s about family, culture, pride. Always love wearing this jersey.”

The post was then liked by struggling shot-stopper Onana, showing support for his international teammate.

Football Insider Verdict

Following a stellar first season with Fabian Hurzeler at the helm, the Seagulls’ squad looks in danger of being picked apart in the summer transfer window.

Football Insider understands Baleba has interest from Liverpool, whilst the Reds are also interested in adding Joao Pedro to their squad as a replacement to the disappointing Darwin Nunez.

However, if there was ever a side you would back to be capable of losing some of their stars, without it impacting their overall performance, it would be Brighton.

Since becoming a Premier League team, the Seagulls have lost managers, players, and even recruitment staff to clubs like Chelsea and… well mainly Chelsea.

What sets them apart though, is their second-to-none analytics department. That department helped them identify players like Pedro and Baleba and will continue to provide success for years to come.
