Man United’s new goalkeeper plan revealed after Ruben Amorim demands January signings
Ruben Amorim has given himself a difficult decision to make regarding his first-choice goalkeeper after a frustrating start to the season.
Altay Bayindir had been the first-choice following Andre Onana‘s exit, before Senne Lammens made his debut in Man United’s 2-0 win against Sunderland.
Both goalkeepers represent strong options, but the boss will now have to decide which one he wants to rely on as the regular in between the sticks.
However, former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 30 September that Amorim wants to sign a new goalkeeper despite Lammen’s arrival in the summer.
Having missed out on a move for Emiliano Martinez, the boss is believed to have been left frustrated by his current options and wants to sign a nailed-on number one.

Ruben Amorim to make Man United goalkeeper decision
Despite his impressive debut display against Sunderland, there is a feeling that Lammens still has to prove he can be the long-term number one under Amorim.
As I revealed on Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Bayindir has been seen as the first-choice this season with the new signing from Belgium his backup option.
Meanwhile, Man United are also set to assess their options in the transfer market, with Amorim keen to land an experienced option to make the role his own.
Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “Lammens is probably a long-term signing, still young and obviously a lot to prove still if he is to be a Man United number one in the future.
“Bayindir is number one right now for Amorim, and then Lammens is the number two after obviously letting Onana leave the club on loan.
“They have got issues between the sticks and have kept just one clean sheet this season.

“If their goalkeeping issues persist it’s going to be something they look at in January and then in the summer as well.
“Amorim is looking at an experienced goalkeeper to come in and make the spot his own to provide a bit of stability and confidence in the defence.”
Lammens’ performance against Sunderland will have done his chances of becoming the first-choice goalkeeper no harm, but questions are still being asked.
Man United set sights on renewed Emiliano Martinez pursuit
Brown told Football Insider on 2 October that Man United could reignite their interest in Martinez in January after missing out in the transfer window.
The goalkeeper was keen on a move to Man United during the summer, while Amorim had considered him his number-one target to replace Onana.
Following the transfer deadline, Brown told Football Insider that Martinez was “disappointed” not to join Man United as the 33-year-old had his heart set on the move.

Unai Emery has since reintegrated him into his first-team plans at Villa Park, with all parties keen to get on with the task at hand despite the summer frustrations.
However, Football Insider exclusively revealed on 23 September that Martinez could push to leave Aston Villa if their poor start to the season does not turn around.
