Man United’s new signing could be at the club for ‘next 10 years’
Manchester United have been warned that Senne Lammens could be broken if he is not introduced to the Premier League in the correct way.
Lammens completed a deadline day switch to Old Trafford from Royal Antwerp, as Ruben Amorim attempts to solve the ongoing goalkeeper problem at the club.
The 23-year-old is expected to come in as the number one, with former first-choice shot-stopper Andre Onana set for a move to Trabzonspor.
So far this season, Amorim has opted for Altay Bayindir between the sticks, but after a number of mistakes from the Turkey international, Lammens could be given the gloves immediately.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that there is a real worry around whether the Belgian can deal with the pressure of playing for Man United.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that question marks will arise if Lammens makes a big mistake in his first few games, and it could break him.
The Red Devils face Manchester City in their first game back after the international break, which would be a baptism of fire for the young keeper.
Wyness added that United’s defence is so unstable and will give Lammens little protection.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Lammens, it’s the youth and the experience for a keeper that you worry about. I do think he’s going to be thrown in, and I’m just worried that it could break him.
“One bad mistake in his first few games and the question marks will be there again, and there’s no real confidence in the defence to protect him at the moment.
“The whole thing is just unstable at the back. They’ve strengthened up front, as we know, Cunha’s been great, but I think they’ve got to get Sesko going as well.
“At the back and with the keeper, they haven’t quite got it right yet. So I think that Mr. Lammens better be a strong personality, which most keepers are, to be fair, but if he can do it, then he’ll be there for the next 10 years.”
Aston Villa to consider permanent move for Man United attacker
Meanwhile, Aston Villa will consider making Jadon Sancho’s loan move from Man United permanent if he hits the ground running after the international break, sources have told Football Insider.
Villa’s difficult financial situation meant the winger’s move was a straight loan with no option to buy, but considerations have been made about his long-term future.
The Midlands giants are believed to be covering around 80% of the 25-year-old’s significant wage packet, easing the considerable financial burden on Amorim’s side.
Should he prove to be a success in Unai Emery‘s squad before the January transfer window, efforts could be made to make his stay at Villa Park permanent.
