Everton’s Under-18s manager Tom Sheedy has hailed the technical and tactical ability of midfielder Tom Davies, claiming he is the latest on a long line of successes from the club’s academy.
The 18-year-old has made a huge impact in the first team this season since graduating from the club’s academy.
He is now a regular in the Toffees starting line-up and continue to improve every game under manager Ronald Koeman.
The Englishman has now made 20 senior appearances this campaign, with 19 of them coming in the Premier League.
Sheedy has praised the qualities of central midfielder Davies and feels he benefited from coming through the club’s youth system.
“As a Club, we’ve proved over the years that we can get players in and then also proved that we can turn those boys into first-team play,” Sheedy said, as quoted by the club’s official website.“Tom is a great example where he’s come right the way through the system, been coached by all ex-Everton players and he’s got in and handled the mental side of it.
“Obviously technically and tactically he’s really strong as well, so I think he’s a product of everything we aim to do.”
Davies is now earning a regular place in Everton’s midfield and playing alongside the likes of Morgan Schneiderlin and Idrissa Gueye.
The teenager has delivered a number of positive displays in the top flight and is plying his trade as a box-to-box midfielder.
He has scored two senior goals so far against Manchester City and Leicester respectively, with the former a brilliant individual goal.
Everton fans are always keen to support emerging academy talents and they believe that Davies can follow in the footsteps of Wanye Rooney and Ross Barkley.
In other Everton news, Ashley Williams has issued a stern warning to their Premier League rivals.
