Manager hits out at Rangers 25-year-old after friendly clash
By Harvey Byrne
St. Johnstone manager Tommy Wright has hit out at Rangers new boy Ryan Jack after a tackle he made on Steven Anderson during a behind closed door friendly in midweek.
The Gers took on their Premiership counterparts at Auchenhowie as they look to start their Europa League campaign soon and the Rangers team included many of their summer signings.
Defender Fabio Cardoso started the match alongside Dalcio, while Daniel Candeias and Alfredo Morelos came off the bench.
However, it was Jack, who came in for some criticism from opposition boss Wright after a tackle on Anderson left him with a knee injury and needing a scan ahead of Thursday’s Europa League qualifier against FK Trakai.
“Unfortunately Steven picked up a knee injury and has to go for a scan. I thought it was a pretty bad tackle from Ryan Jack. He didn’t mean it but it was a poor one,” told Wright, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.
“You hope to come through these pre-season games without picking up injuries but unfortunately we have.
“Obviously we’ll know more and have a clearer picture when we get the scan results.”
Jack, 25, joined Rangers following the expiration of his contract at Aberdeen last summer.
He was a regular star and the captain of the Dons side, which finished in second place with the midfielder playing in 39 matches in all competitions.
Jack has already shown that he likes to get stuck into tackles and while the Rangers fans will be appreciative, his booking tally may not make as nice reading.
In other Rangers news, this international duo have also joined the Gers this summer.
