‘Man United backed to make shock Alejandro Garnacho U-turn amid Chelsea interest’
Manchester United are enduring a rebuild this summer as Ruben Amorim readies his squad for next season’s Premier League.
While Amorim looks to facilitate player exits, Chelsea are interested in winger Alejandro Garnacho, who scored six goals in 36 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils last term.
The Manchester United boss has shown he isn’t afraid of sanctioning high-profile exits, as Marcus Rashford joined Barcelona on loan.
Meanwhile, Amorim has signed Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha to freshen his frontline ahead of next season.
Manchester United told to reverse Garnacho stance

After falling out with Amorim, Garnacho is expected to leave Manchester United ahead of the new campaign.
However, with the Old Trafford club’s Premier League opener against Arsenal fast approaching, the 21-year-old remains in the North West.
Speaking live on talkSPORT on Thursday, 31st July, Jeff Stelling said: “If I’m Manchester United, I’m trying to get Alejandro Garnacho to stay and prove his value at Old Trafford because I think he’s a good player.
“I think he’d be a positive on the playing front but I don’t know what he’s like in terms of his influence around the club.
“He’s a young man, he shouldn’t have too much influence around the club.”
Amorim shouldn’t make Garnacho U-Turn
Football Insider verdict
Stelling is right to outline that Garnacho is a talented player, as the Argentina international notched 11 goals and 10 assists across all competitions last term.
Furthermore, at just 21 years old, the Red Devils academy graduate boasts plenty of potential and should become more consistent next season, whichever club he plays for.
However, last month, Garnacho posed in a Marcus Rashford Villa shirt, which caused controversy and portrayed him as a disruptive character.
| Alejandro Garnacho stats | Premier League 2024/25 |
| Appearances | 36 |
| Goals | 6 |
| Assists | 2 |
Those antics, coupled with the fact that he has a strained relationship with Amorim, mean that Manchester United should not want to retain the former Atletico Madrid academy starlet.
Furthermore, Garnacho is an out-and-out winger, whereas the Red Devils boss remains intent on utilising a wingback system at Old Trafford.
The arrivals of Mbeumo and Cunha, meanwhile, have jeopardised the 21-year-old’s chances of being deployed elsewhere in Man United’s front line.
However, Garnacho’s ability suggests that he has the potential to succeed with Chelsea, should he land a move to Stamford Bridge.
