Manchester United ace intrigued by transfer to Everton - report

By Alex Stevens

Memphis Depay is intrigued by the possibility of joining Everton in the January window, according to a report.

The Daily Mail transfer blog on 7 December (11.53am) claims that the Manchester United winger has knuckled down in training in a bid to reclaim his place in Jose Mourinho’s team.

But it is said that Depay is open to the possibility of making a switch to Everton next month after manager Ronald Koeman went public with his interest in signing the Holland international.

Koeman’s interest is set to intensify after winger Yannick Bolasie sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury that will require surgery and is set to sideline him for the rest of the season.

It is most likely that Everton will try to negotiate a loan deal with United that runs until the end of the season.

Old Trafford manager Mourinho has not yet spoken about whether he would be willing to offload Depay even though the 22-year-old is a bit-part figure in his squad.

The Dutchman has played just 134 minutes for United this season, across eight appearances, and his only start was against Northampton in the League Cup.

Depay joined the Premier League giants from PSV Eindhoven in the summer of 2015 for a fee rising to £28million but he has made little impact either under Mourinho or former manager Louis van Gaal.

In other Everton transfer news, the club are at the centre of a January transfer scramble for a Premier League player with the release clause set at £25million.
