Marcus Rashford reacts to Phil Foden’s determined message

Marcus Rashford is vying for success at Barcelona after leaving Manchester United on loan, whereas Phil Foden is aiming to help Manchester City restore their former glories.

Pep Guardiola’s men finished third in the Premier League last term after previously winning four consecutive top-flight titles.

After dropping below their lofty standards, Manchester City have made high-profile additions such as former AC Milan star Tijjani Reijnders.

But the Etihad Stadium club were beaten by Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal in the last 16 of this summer’s Club World Cup.

Rashford reacts as Manchester City star Foden prepares for next season

Both Rashford and Foden are hoping to perform well next season so that they can feature for England in next summer’s World Cup.

Meanwhile, the Manchester City ace took to Instagram on Tuesday, 29 July, as he wrote: “Back to it!”

Foden’s message attracted a like from Rashford, who made his first Barcelona appearance in a friendly win over Vissel Kobe on Sunday, 27 July.

Guardiola needs Foden to perform next term

While Man City let their standards drop last season and finished below Liverpool and Arsenal in the Premier League, both the Gunners and the Anfield club have strengthened their ranks this summer.

Amid Arne Slot’s continued desire to strengthen his forward line, Liverpool remain keen on Alexander Isak, and fresh recruit Viktor Gyokeres could have a similar impact at Arsenal to that of Erling Haaland at the Etihad Stadium.

Guardiola’s men have done well to add talented players like Rayan Cherki to their squad this summer, but the North West giants also need long-serving stars such as Foden to perform at their best.

The 25-year-old did not show his best form in the Premier League last term, notching seven goals and two assists in 28 top-flight appearances.

But the England international excelled during the 2023/24 campaign, scoring 27 goals and producing 12 assists in 53 appearances across all competitions.

If Foden can reach those heights once more next term, it would heavily boost Man City’s Premier League title credentials.
