‘Bruno Fernandes, senior Man United players disillusioned by INEOS’ as bid inbound

Bruno Fernandes is among the senior Manchester United players who have become disillusioned with the Old Trafford outfit under the ownership of INEOS.

The Red Devils have failed to win silverware this season after being beaten 1-0 by fellow Premier League strugglers Tottenham in the Europa League final on Wednesday, 21 May.

Ruben Amorim’s appointment has not proven to be a success so far, as Man United could finish as low as 17th in the top flight if they fail to beat Champions League chasers Aston Villa on the final day of the season.

Under former boss Erik ten Hag, the Old Trafford club finished eighth in the Premier League but won the FA Cup last campaign.

Fernandes is subject of huge-money interest in Saudi Arabia and indicated after the Europa League defeat he would understand if the club were ready to cash in on him.

Manchester United ‘morale on the floor’ after Europa League final defeat

United talisman Fernandes was unable to prevent his side’s 1-0 defeat to Tottenham in Bilbao on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, speaking live on talkSPORT [25 May, 9.50 am], Alex Crook revealed: “When you look at United’s recent form, morale on the floor I’m told after what happened in Bilbao on Wednesday night.

“A lot of disillusioned senior players. Not so much with results, but I think with the direction of travel at the football club. The cost-cutting measures have not gone down well.”

Crook went on to add: “Ruben Amorim is pushing against the departure of Fernandes, but I’m told he is one of the players in particular who is disillusioned with what’s happened in the last year or so since INEOS came in, so he might take a little bit of convincing to stay.”

Fernandes exit could be damaging for Man United

United’s woeful season is indicative that the North West giants must utilise the summer transfer window to complete a major rebuild.

But Fernandes has been a shining light in an otherwise struggling side, as showcased by the fact that he has scored 19 goals and created 17 assists in all competitions this season.

Fernandes has performed well for United this term

However, while talkSPORT’s Crook reports that Amorim is pushing for his captain to stay at Old Trafford, the Portugal international has been subject to serious transfer interest from the Saudi Pro League.

Football Insider have exclusively revealed that Saudi outfit Al Hilal are preparing an £80million offer for the 30-year-old who scored a brace against Athletic Bilbao in the Europa League semi-finals.

While Man United will have to facilitate high-profile exits in the transfer window, the potential exit of Fernandes would likely prove damaging to their chances of enjoying a more successful campaign next term.

He has consistently proven his ability to perform well for a struggling side, but his disillusionment with INEOS’ ownership could spell his exit.
