‘Man United set clear Bryan Mbeumo stance as Tottenham come knocking’

Manchester United have decided whether to make a swoop for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo amid interest from Premier League rivals Tottenham.

Ruben Amorim’s Man United have eyed Mbeumo, but Brentford boss Thomas Frank’s impending move to Tottenham could see Mbeumo follow him to North London.

The Cameroon international enjoyed a highly productive 2024/25 Premier League campaign, notching 20 goals and seven assists in 38 top flight appearances.

Mbeumo’s efforts helped Brentford to a 10th-place finish, but the Bees are set to part company with the 25-year-old this summer.

Man United expected to hold talks with Brentford over Mbeumo

One of Amorim’s clear priorities this summer is to bolster his attack after striker Rasmus Hojlund scored just four Premier League goals in 2024/25.

Meanwhile, writing on the BBC Sport live transfer blog [10 June, 11.15am], Simon Stone reported: “Manchester United are expected to open talks with Brentford over striker Bryan Mbeumo.

“United feel confident in making a move for Cameroon international Mbeumo, 25, who scored 20 times for the Bees in the league last season, after receiving indications they are his first choice for a move this summer.”

The Brentford star has effectively operated as a right-winger for the Bees, but he could play as the main striker for Man United, should he agree terms at Old Trafford.

Man United winger Jadon Sancho set for Saudi Arabia move

To pave the way for Mbeumo’s potential arrival, Amorim will have to part company with some of his current assets at Old Trafford this summer.

Man United could sell Alejandro Garnacho after he fell out with Amorim, even though the Argentina international scored 11 goals and created 10 assists across all competitions in 2024/25.

Meanwhile, former Red Devils chief scout Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider that Jadon Sancho could leave Man United in favour of a move to Saudi Arabia this summer.

The Old Trafford club held high expectations for the England international after signing him from Borussia Dortmund in 2021, but he has failed to hit the heights he managed in Germany during his time in the North West.

Sancho consequently returned to Dortmund for a brief loan stint in 2024, before spending the entirety of the 2024/25 season on loan with Chelsea.

The 25-year-old will desperately hope to hit better form after making an Old Trafford exit.
