Manchester United’s Bryan Mbeumo reacts to Patrick Dorgu’s ‘soon’ message

Manchester United defender Patrick Dorgu has sent out a message as the club embark on their pre-season tour of the USA.

Dorgu started Man United’s 2-1 victory over West Ham in America after the Red Devils were held to a 0-0 draw against rivals Leeds United in Stockholm.

Bruno Fernandes netted both goals against the Hammers, and Man Untied will next face Bournemouth and Everton stateside.

Matheus Cunha has been involved in both matches after his switch from Wolves early in the window, but new signing Bryan Mbeumo is having to wait for his club debut since his move from Brentford.

Mbeumo teases at Man United debut date

Mbeumo spent six seasons at Brentford before joining Man United this summer in a deal worth over £70million after two bids were previously rejected by the Bees.

The 25-year-old has liked a message from team mate Dorgu following the victory over West Ham.

Dorgu took to Instagram to share images from the match with the caption: “New Jersey tick, Chicago soon,” which was liked by Mbeumo.

The 20-year-old, who joined the club in January, stood out as a strong performer in the contest.

Dorgu could relish pre-season opportunity

Football Insider Verdict

Man United fans will be keen to see Mbeumo take part in the club’s pre-season tour with Cunha already getting minutes under his belt.

Fernandes’ importance to the side was again highlighted against West Ham, and manager Ruben Amorim will be hoping Cunha and Mbeumo can lift some of the pressure off the 30-year-old’s shoulders.

Cunha and Mbeumo have both showed excellent form at their previous club’s as main men, and their relationship in attack could prove crucial to how well United do next season.

Amorim is under pressure to make an impact at the club following a poor season last time out which ended in a 15th placed Premier League finish and no European football next campaign.

With a squad rebuild required, the performance of Dorgu against West Ham will have also pleased Amorim, with Luke Shaw’s fitness an issue in that position.

Tyrell Malacia is also expected to leave the club, with Scottish Premiership champions Celtic a possible destination, so a vacancy looks set to open up if Dorgu can take his opportunity.
