Manor Solomon and Joel Piroe react to Ethan Ampadu’s Leeds message
Ethan Ampadu was front and centre of Leeds United’s promotion celebrations as they paraded the Championship title.
Leeds return to the Premier League next season with a first-placed Championship finish under their belts, as they edged Burnley on goal difference via Manor Solomon’s injury-time winner at Plymouth.
Both Leeds and Burnley finish the season on a record 100 points apiece, but United’s goal difference of +65 – the best in England’s top four leagues with 95 goals scored in total – proved to be the decider.
With new records in both goals and points tallies behind them, Leeds had plenty to celebrate in their open-top bus parade throughout the city on 5 May as they prepare for the Premier League once again.

Ethan Ampadu issues three-word verdict to Leeds United fans
Over 150,000 Peacocks fans turned out in Leeds city centre to salute their heroes’ successful promotion and title push, five years after Covid-19 prevented Marcelo Bielsa’s team from similar celebrations.
Ampadu, whose £7million transfer from Chelsea in 2023 looks a snip after he led United back to the top-flight, was at the heart of Leeds’ celebrations and declared Monday’s parade as “the best day of my life”.
Position | Team | Played | Won | Drawn | Lost | GD | Points |
1 | Leeds United | 46 | 29 | 13 | 4 | +65 | 100 |
2 | Burnley | 46 | 28 | 16 | 2 | +53 | 100 |
3 | Sheffield United | 46 | 28 | 8 | 10 | +27 | 90 |
The 24-year-old Wales international took to Instagram in the aftermath of the celebrations (6 May), with a post which included some of his personal highlights from the parade, and captioned: “What a day”.
Solomon reflected Mateusz Klich’s sentiment and called Ampadu his “man of the match”, while both Joel Piroe and 49ers Enterprises investor Larry Nance Jr both underlined the importance of his captaincy with the comments; “cappieeee”, and “our captain”, respectively.
Leeds United trio keen to secure Premier League futures
Ampadu, Piroe and Solomon are all in different positions as Daniel Farke prepares to tackle the top-flight after two years away, with Ampadu one of six players seen as Premier League-ready by Leeds’ higher-ups.
Piroe, meanwhile, isn’t in the same boat, after Football Insider revealed last month that neither Piroe nor Patrick Bamford as seen as good-enough options up front for next season’s expected relegation battle.
Solomon’s future remains up in the air at Elland Road as his loan from Tottenham ends, but after he etched his name into the club’s history, there’s little doubt that 49ers Enterprises will be keen to keep him permanently.
