Marc Cucurella reacts to Moises Caicedo’s ‘strong’ message after development

Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo shared a passionate message on social media to supporters as he marked the end of international duty.

Chelsea have started the season on form, picking up two wins and a draw from their opening three Premier League fixtures under Enzo Maresca.

Caicedo has performed impressively ever since Maresca arrived and has continued his form into this season.

His efforts last term were recognised by supporters as Caicedo was named Chelsea’s Player of the Year and Player’s Player of the Year for the 2024-25 season.

The midfielder has been away on international break, but as Chelsea prepare to face Brentford, he posted an emotional message after Ecuador confirmed their qualification for the World Cup.

Moises Caicedo reacts after Ecuador qualify for the World Cup

Caicedo featured in both Ecuador’s fixtures during the World Cup qualifiers, but his involvement was cut short after being sent off in the clash against Argentina.

Still, Ecuador beat the reigning World Cup champions in a 1-0 win, with World Cup qualification secured.

The midfielder shared a response on his latest post to say: “Closing the qualifiers with a home win will always be special. Thank you Ecuador for the support throughout the whole journey

“Goal achieved… now on to the 2026 WORLD CUP”.

Plenty of players shared a reaction with Marc Cucurella, Tosin Adarabioyo, and former teammate Nicolas Jackson liked the message.

Fellow Ecuador international Piero Hincapie, who had a clash with Alexis Mac Allister, also showed support by liking the message.

Following their victory, Ecuador moved up to second in the CONMEBOL standings, but still sit nine points behind the group leaders Argentina.

Now, Caicedo will now turn his attention back to domestic football with a West London derby on 13 September against Brentford, as the Blues aim to continue their brilliant start to the season.

Chelsea confirm striker deal after Liam Delap injury

The Blues have kept busy during the international break and have confirmed a transfer for next summer as Chelsea have signed Emmanuel Emegha from Strasbourg.

The move comes in response after Liam Delap suffered a devastating hamstring injury and Jackson’s deal to Bayern Munich including a conditional obligation to buy.

Emegha will stay at Strasbourg for the rest of the season but will join up with the West London side in the summer of 2026.
