Marc Guehi tipped to snub Liverpool in favour of ‘very interesting’ option
Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi has been tipped to snub Liverpool in favour of a different option that has emerged.
Guehi’s deadline day move to Anfield broke down after the Eagles blocked the transfer at the last moment.
Palace manager Oliver Glasner threatened to quit if his captain was sold, with the club unable to bring in a replacement for him.
Last week (6 September), Football Insider revealed that Liverpool may wait until next summer to sign Guehi, when he would be available on a free transfer.
However, Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that the Reds may not have it all their own way in the pursuit of the England international.

Real Madrid and Juventus eye Guehi
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that the Palace captain will have a number of very interesting options to look at, and may not be Liverpool-bound after all.
Both Real Madrid and Juventus have been credited with an interest in Guehi, with Manchester City also rumoured to be in the race for his signature.
Wyness added that he was surprised Liverpool aren’t expected to move for the centre-back in January, with so much competition for his signature.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I saw that Liverpool had come out saying that they didn’t expect to move for Guehi in January. That surprised me. That’s what everybody thought they would have done.
“So it seems there is competition, and Guehi and his agent have decided, well, we couldn’t get it through, but we’ll sit back and there may be even better offers out there.
“It does give Liverpool that problem at the back. If Konate goes as well, then you know, there’s going to be a question mark at the back, and they’ve shown a little bit of frailty there. That may be the Achilles heel.
“It could mean that Guehi may not end up at Liverpool after all. There are a lot of options open. People have got time to look at this and see if he carries on performing as well as he has done.
“If he stays fit, then I think he’ll have other very interesting options to look at, and he may not be Liverpool-bound.”
Liverpool face battle to keep defender
Meanwhile, Ibrahima Konate is reportedly edging closer to a move away from Liverpool as Real Madrid remain keen to agree a free transfer next summer.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who claims that the 26-year-old is interested in an Anfield departure.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on 1 September that Liverpool will hold fresh contract talks with Konate following the end of the summer transfer window.
However, should they continue to face delays in reaching an agreement, there is a growing feeling that a deal could be agreed for his exit as soon as January.
