Marc Guehi’s valuation has plummeted in new Crystal Palace blow – Keith Wyness
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has suggested Marc Guehi is no longer worth £70million after a poor start for Crystal Palace.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed players losing stock is “part of the roulette of football”.
Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (22 October) that Crystal Palace star Guehi is keen to join a top club like Liverpool when he leaves Selhurst Park.
The 24-year-old believes he can do better than Newcastle United – who pursued him throughout the most recent summer window but failed to agree a deal despite reportedly bidding around £65million.
Guehi, who is captain at Palace, has played every minute in the Premier League this term but Oliver Glasner’s side sit 18th in the table and are yet to record a league win.
He has less than two years to run on his contract.
Crystal Palace skipper Guehi no longer worth £70m, says Wyness
Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “This is part of the problem, part of the roulette of football.
“Palace felt he was worth £70million to Newcastle, held their ground – but his valuation is not there at the moment.
“That’s the chance you take in football.
“If they had got rid of Guehi, everyone would be blaming the bad start on that.

“Give them time to settle down, reform – and I tend to be a bit more bullish on their chances, I think they’ll get through it.
“They’ve got a reasonable run of games and I expect them to be out of the bottom three at the end of the season.”
