Marc Guiu to be absolutely gutted as fresh injury news emerges at Chelsea

Marc Guiu has had very limited opportunities to prove himself to Enzo Maresca due to the size of Chelsea’s squad this season.

While Liam Delap has been unavailable for much of the season, alongside Cole Palmer, Joao Pedro has stepped up through the middle, with Enzo Fernandez slightly behind him.

Levi Colwill has been injured since the beginning of the campaign, joined by Dario Essugo and Romeo Lavia in long-term spells, but this has not stopped the Blues from progressing under Maresca.

The manager also has a plethora of wingers to choose from in the final third, and any chance of Guiu getting more minutes on the pitch have just been halved following a fresh update.

Chelsea to breathe a sigh of relief over Liam Delap

The very worst was feared after Delap picked up another injury against Bournemouth, with reports suggesting that the striker could miss up to eight weeks due to a shoulder injury.

That would have seen the former Ipswich Town star miss important games against Aston Villa, Man City, and Napoli, with the Blues competing in the Premier League and Champions League this term.

However, according to the Daily Telegraph’s Matt Law (9 December), the 22-year-old will only miss a maximum of four weeks, and could return sooner than anticipated.

Staff at the Cobham Training Centre are confident of a quick recovery, and while supporters will be over the moon with that news, those below him in the pecking order will continue to look up.

Marc Guiu’s frustrations to continue at Stamford Bridge

Guiu was recalled from his Sunderland loan after just a month, with concerns over the Blues’ attack due to Delap’s previous injury, but he has just one Premier League start to his name.

Recently, he failed to get off the bench against Qarabag and Barcelona, and his only goal of the campaign came against Ajax in the Champions League, starting the game but being hooked at half-time.

Supporters are desperate for the 19-year-old to go out on loan next month, but the only way that is possible is if Sunderland can restrike a deal for his signature.

Given that the Black Cats are firing on all cylinders already, with Brian Brobbey of all players failing to get consistent game time, that move might backfire for all parties as well.
