Marca outlines obstacle in Real Madrid's pursuit of Tottenham ace
By Aramide Oladipo
Real Madrid need to overcome the “obstacle” of Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy if they want to sign the club’s attacking midfielder Dele Alli, according to a report.
Spanish publication Marca claims that the La Liga and Champions League winners have been keeping a close eye on the 21-year-old in recent weeks, with the club’s president Florentino Perez a huge admirer of the player.
However, the newspaper reports Levy is likely to be the principal stumbling block in a potential deal that could see the England international secure a move to the Bernabeu in the foreseeable future.
The Spanish giants have already done business with the Spurs senior man in the past, acquiring the services of Luka Modric and Gareth Bale.
But with the amount of money spent in the previous summer transfer window, it is reported that Levy will be looking to hold out for an extremely large bid in order to offload Alli.

The report describes Levy as a “ruthless negotiator with very little patience for fair negotiation.”
Madrid are likely to step up their interest in Alli especially after the midfielder scored a brace against them in Tottenham’s 3-1 Champions League win in midweek.
Alli currently has five years remaining on his contract with the North London club.
Football Insider verdict
It is fascinating to see that Levy has garnered a reputation abroad with regards to his transfer dealings. However, the report is spot on as Madrid will be forced to table a substantial bid in order for Levy to even consider allowing Alli to leave the club. The Spurs chairman will be hopeful that the victory against the Spanish giants went a long way in persuading not just Alli but striker Harry Kane to continue their spell at the club and attempt to take the next step and challenge for the major titles. The prospect of playing at the Bernabeu is tempting for any player but one thing is for sure – Levy will not allow his best asset to leave on the cheap.
