Marco Asensio reacts to Marcus Rashford’s message after Aston Villa masterclass
Marcus Rashford has thrived since his January move to Aston Villa, and his resurgence showed no signs of slowing down against Brighton.
Aston Villa cruised to a dominant 3-0 win at the Amex Stadium on 2 April, with all three goals coming from their winter signings.
Rashford opened the scoring in classic counter-attacking fashion, latching onto a pinpoint pass from Morgan Rogers before calmly slotting past the keeper.
Marco Asensio continued his fine goalscoring form, while Donyell Malen sealed the victory in the closing moments.
Football Insider revealed that Aston Villa are leading the race to sign Rashford permanently, despite interest from Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
Having netted his first goals for the club against Preston, the in-form forward now has three in quick succession—and he made sure to mark the occasion after another standout performance.

Aston Villa face £130 million price tag to sign Marcus Rashford permanently
Rashford shared a series of photos on Instagram after Villa’s dominant win, captioning them: “Great win away! Let’s keep building.”
His post drew plenty of attention, with Emi Martinez commenting “Baller” while teammates like Morgan Rogers and fellow loanee Asensio also showed their support.
Since arriving in January, the Manchester United academy graduate has been in exceptional form, contributing to seven goals in just six starts.
However, Aston Villa may need to pay a staggering £130 million to sign Rashford permanently. That figure includes his £350,000-per-week wages, which Villa have only been partially covering since his arrival.
Given Rashford’s undeniable impact, though, the club seems prepared to make the investment.

Alongside Rashford, Aston Villa are also eyeing a permanent deal for Asensio, with PSG open to selling him for just £15 million.
Both players arrived with big expectations, but their ability to deliver has been crucial to Unai Emery’s side, making their long-term futures a priority for the club.
