Marco Rose to Rangers: O’Rourke updates after analysing 49ers takeover latest

Rangers’ links to the Red Bull group could be the key in their pursuit of Marco Rose this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The club’s new owners 49ers Enterprises will take the reins at Ibrox this June, and Football Insider revealed in March that their decision over Rangers’ next manager will be made quickly at season’s end.

The arrival of 49ers Enterprises at Rangers also opens the door for a potential collaboration and shirt sponsorship deal by Red Bull, and sources have told Football Insider this could bring another benefit.

Football Insider also revealed in March that Rangers had lined up then-RB Leipzig boss Rose to fill the vacancy at Ibrox, and now, the links between the two groups make his appointment “a real possbility”.

The Light Blues may otherwise struggle to lure Rose to the Scottish Premiership, but sources have told Football Insider that Rangers’ links to Red Bull raise them above other clubs in the race to secure his services.

49ers plan ‘massive’ Marco Rose swoop at Rangers

While Rose’s preference may well be to take another job in Europe’s top five leagues after RB Leipzig sacked him in March, there’s no denying that Rangers are still a massive football club on the continent.

Rangers’ exploits in Europe across recent seasons have ensured that expectation levels remain “sky high”, and sources have told Football Insider that Rose would inherit those expectations to perform in every single game.

Football Insider revealed on Saturday (3 May) that former Gers boss Steven Gerrard is the favourite to return to the Ibrox dugout this summer, but it could still be a flip of a coin between himself and Rose.

Rangers to give next manager the tools for success

Either Rose or Gerrard would likely go down as popular appointments at Ibrox, given the latter won the league title with the Gers in 2021 and Rose has experience in the dugouts of several huge German clubs.

Whoever 49ers Enterprises appoint this summer will be heavily backed, as Football Insider revealed in March that Rangers will have up to £25million to spend on new signings to fast-track their squad rebuild

The likes of Nico Raskin and Hamza Igamane are expected to attract plenty of summer transfer interest, but Football Insider has also revealed that the 49ers are in no mood to let either star player leave Rangers without a fight.
