Fonseca’s name has been on the bookmakers’ lists for some weeks now but no one has ever really mentioned his name.
The 44-year-old is currently in charge of Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk and has been somewhat of a journeyman in his career, never spending more than two years at a club.
In total, Fonseca has taken charge of eight different clubs, including two spells with Portuguese side Pacos Ferreira, either side of a stint at Champions League regulars.
Fonseca has experience in Europe’s most prestigious competition and is currently finding a winning formula with Donestsk in Ukraine. He would certainly be a left field pick and a risky one, but what other choices to Everton have right now?
