‘Marco Silva to reject Fulham exit option’

Marco Silva has plenty of interest in his services, with the Fulham manager gathering a lot of attention for the work he’s done at the club.

During his four seasons in charge, the Portuguese coach has taken the Cottagers from the Championship to a club challenging for European football.

When he was appointed back in 2021, Fulham had just been relegated to the Championship but Silva ensured their immediate return to the top-flight.

The 47-year-old has helped the London side establish their Premier League status and this season Fulham have even been flirting with the European places.

With three games remaining of the 2024/25 campaign, Silva’s side sit 11th, only two points off a potential Europa Conference League spot.

Silva set to stay in England

The former Watford and Everton manager has caught the eye of a number of Saudi clubs during his tenure at Cravent Cottage.

Silva even rejected a mega-money Saudi offer from Al Ahli back in 2023 before signing a new contract with Fulham.

According to reports from Sky Sports (8 May), there is new interest from Saudi Pro League champions Al Hilal after they sacked head coach Jorge Jesus.

However, despite being on Al Hilal’s shortlist, Silva is happy and settled in England and you have to believe that at this juncture he wouldn’t be tempted by the riches of the Saudi league and would reject any such approaches.

Whether Fulham can convince him to stay if there are domestic rivals showing interest is an altogether different question but his ambitions to be a success in England make it unlikely he would take the move to Saudi Arabia at this point.

Tottenham move still on the cards

Silva is unlikely to make the move to Saudi Arabia, but that doesn’t mean he would reject any offer to leave Fulham.

There has been speculation for months that Tottenham are interested in Silva, and that he would be Daniel Levy’s preferred option if Ange Postecoglou was to get sacked.

Fulham are two points off the European places

The Portuguese manager is highly regarded at Fulham, by fans and owners alike, so it would be a bitter blow for the Cottagers if he made the switch to North London.

Silva provided stability and control when he arrived at Craven Cottage, making smart recruitment decisions and getting the best out of star players.

With the chaos that is surrounding Spurs at the moment, a manager that could come in an immediately steady the ship would be highly appreciated by supporters.

However, if Postecoglou was to guide his side to Europa League success, then he may be given another season at the helm.
