Marcus Rashford and Alexis Mac Allister react to Aston Villa star Emi Martinez

Liverpool ace Alexis Mac Allister and Marcus Rashford have reacted to a message from Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez on social media.

The Argentina international kept a clean sheet in a comfortable 2-0 win against Cardiff City on Friday evening (28 February).

Despite dominating proceedings in the first-half, the Villains were unable to find an opener and went into halftime tied 0-0 with their Championship opponents.

However, it was a different story in the second-half, as January signing from PSG Marco Asensio opened the scoring in the 68th minute, following an assist from Man United loanee Marcus Rashford.

The Spaniard doubled his, and Villa’s tally in the 80th minute, with Arsenal transfer target Ollie Watkins setting up the former Real Madrid man.

Following the win, Aston Villa fans now want to see both Asensio and Rashford signed permanently.

Liverpool focus on other competitions after FA Cup shock against Plymouth

Football Insider Verdict

Following a busy period that has seen Liverpool qualify for the Champions League knockout stage, make it to the Carabao Cup final and lead the Premier League, the Reds and their stars will have a rare weekend off.

The Merseyside club were shockingly knocked out of the FA Cup by Championship strugglers, Plymouth, putting an end to any hopes of a historic “quadruple”.

However, Liverpool are unlikely to kick their feet up and relax, with the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle taking place on 16 March.
