Marcus Rashford and Lucas Digne react to Youri Tielemans’ announcement

Aston Villa players such as Lucas Digne and loanee Marcus Rashford joined in responding to Youri Tielemans’ announcement at Villa Park after what’s been a standout individual campaign.

Unai Emery’s side are set to face Manchester United on the final day of the season as they aim to secure a coveted Champions League spot.

Tielemans has been at the heart of Villa’s recent form and has enjoyed a strong season at Villa, making 52 appearances across all competitions and contributing 15 goal involvements, underlining his value to the squad both creatively and in midfield control.

Despite his success, Tielemans has been linked with a potential move away form Aston Villa, with clubs in Saudi Arabia reportedly monitoring his situation. However, his importance to the team hasn’t gone unnoticed internally.

Aston Villa have rewarded the 28-year-old for his consistent performances, and his latest announcement has prompted messages of support from teammates.

Youri Tielemans named Aston Villa Player of the Year after standout season

The midfielder was crowned both the Supporters’ Player of the Year and the Players’ Player of the Year following a superb season at Villa Park.

Tielemans reposted the announcement on social media, receiving praise from several teammates including Manchester United loanee Rashford, Digne and Amadou Onana.

Despite his standout campaign, there is growing concern that Aston Villa’s financial constraints could force an unpopular sale, particularly if they fail to secure Champions League qualification.

Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson told Football Insider that the Aston Villa may need to offload key players this summer to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

Aston Villa in race to sign Matheus Fernandes amid Tielemans uncertainty

With speculation continuing around Tielemans’ future, Villa appear to be preparing for midfield reinforcements ahead of the summer window.

Football Insider revealed that Aston Villa have joined the race to sign Southampton’s Matheus Fernandes, who has also attracted interest from West Ham and newly-promoted Leeds United.

The 20-year-old is reportedly valued at around £25 million and, despite the club’s disappointing return to the Premier League, Fernandes has emerged as a rare bright spot for Southampton in their campaign.

While it’s not yet confirmed whether Villa will part ways with their Player of the Season, Fernandes’ versatility of being able to play both in a holding role and further forward makes him a strong candidate to fill any potential void left in Emery’s squad.
