Marcus Rashford and teammate slammed by pundit as 'eight' Man United exits mooted

Frank McAvennie has suggested Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial are not good enough for Man United.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham and Celtic striker said there is “seven or eight” players at the club who need to leave in this window.

The Red Devils have suffered defeat in their first two Premier League games.

According to L’Equipe, reported in The Guardian (12 August), Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing Rashford.

The 24-year-old currently has 12 months remaining on his contract at Old Trafford, with the option of another year.

Martial, 26, has two years remaining on his current deal.

When asked what players United need to get rid of, McAvennie told Football Insider: “I think they’ve got to get rid of about seven or eight of them I really do.

Rashford and Martial, they’re not going to do anything for Man United. I wish they would prove me wrong.

Rashford is a good player but he’s hardly kicked a ball.

“Go and speak to the manager, if he thinks he’s a centre-forward he should go and tell the manager he wants to play there and see how it goes.

“He’s a good player but he just doesn’t seem bothered.

On Saturday (13 August) Erik ten Hag’s side were beaten 4-0 by Brentford.

As quoted by ESPN (13 August), the United boss said he wished he could have substituted his whole team after the loss to Brentford.

In other news, Man United have been backed for ‘big’ Cristiano Ronaldo decision imminently after what pundit’s just seen.
