Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes react as Leny Yoro’s ‘focus shifts’ at Man United

Aston Villa forward Marcus Rashford and Man United captain Bruno Fernandes have reacted to a message from Leny Yoro after the Manchester derby.

The French defender appeared in the Red Devil’s hard-earned 0-0 draw at Old Trafford against cross-town rivals, Man City on Sunday (6 April).

Yoro’s arrival at Man United was seen as a gamble, but after an injury-interrupted start to his career in the north of England, the 19-year-old is settling well into United’s starting XI.

Yoro has established himself as a key part of Ruben Amorim’s defence since the Portuguese manager’s arrival in November and was once again at the heart of the action as United were unfortunate to only claim a point in the Manchester derby.

Following the draw on Sunday, Yoro took to Instagram to post a plethora of photos, captioned: “A very tight derby at Old Trafford. Thanks to the fans for always being there. Focus shifts to the Europa League”.

The post was then liked by Marcus Rashford who is enjoying life on loan at Aston Villa, and the ever-impressive Bruno Fernandes, with both showing their support for the French defender.

United and Yoro will now both turn their focus towards their Europa League meeting with Lyon on Thursday 10 April.

Football Insider Verdict

Rashford’s career at Man United is almost certainly over, as some of Europe’s top clubs, including Barcelona and Bayern Munich, queue up for the Englishman’s signature.

Whilst disappointing for a large part of the Red Devils’ fanbase, it would seem to be a move that suits both parties well.

Rashford‘s success with Villa has been well documented, but what is being spoken about a little less has been United’s form since his departure.

Resurgence would be far too strong a word, but there are positive signs on show. United’s draw against City once again underlined the need for an out-and-out chance finisher up top, but a clean sheet against the reigning Premier League champions highlights the strength in Amorim’s system defensively.

What’s more, the Red Devils have only lost twice in their last nine games, with one of those being the penalty shootout loss to Fulham in the FA Cup.

Amorim has been heavily scrutinised during his reign in Manchester, but the signs point to a team trending upwards.
