‘Marcus Rashford move eyed to leave Aston Villa and Man United’

Marcus Rashford’s camp believe he may not be playing for Aston Villa or Man United next season, reports the Mail Online.

Rashford joined Aston Villa on loan from Man United the day before the transfer window closed, but where his future lies in the long-term is still up for debate.

The England international was linked with a number of clubs throughout the window, and saw a move to Borussia Dortmund fall through due to his high wages.

Rashford was linked with a transfer to Tottenham, but it is believed that he chose to turn down an opportunity to move to the North London club.

However, the big one for Rashford and his team, was a potential move to Spain to join Barcelona.

Whilst Rashford’s transfer to Barcelona failed to materialise due to the Spanish club being unable to meet his wage demands, and prioritising the contract extensions of Pedri and Gavi, his camp still believe a move could happen in the summer, as reported by Mail Online.

The forward caused a stir in his first interview with club channels as a Villa player, by saying “Obviously it’s only short-term I’m here”, despite the Midlands club having a £40million buy-clause.

Marcus Rashford’s move to Aston Villa will revive his career

Football Insider Verdict

Rashford deserves this second lease in his footballing life, having bore the brunt of a near constant stream of criticism during his career.

Despite United being nowhere near the level of competing for major trophies on the pitch, because of the club’s rich history, fans have found it hard to shake off the idea that they are no longer the team they once were.

Much of the frustration of United’s failings has been taken out on Rashford, but his move to Villa should provide him with a much more secure fanbase.

Villa fans have been quick to praise their new star, posting their support online after Rashford made his debut against Tottenham.

The hope for all parties involved, and those watching from afar is that Rashford can use his time in the Midlands to find the form that made him one of the Premier League’s best only a few seasons ago.

Unai Emery is the man to revitalise Marcus Rashford

Unai Emery has shown a unique talent for raising the levels of his striker’s abilities during his career in management.

Prior to joining Villa, Emery got the best out of Aritz Aduriz, Kevin Gameiro and Gerard Moreno whilst working in Spain and France. Whilst not necessarily household names, especially here in England, Emery was able to raise their respective games in an impressive manner.

Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins
Ollie Watkins has blossomed under Unai Emery at Aston Villa.

Emery has also shown that ability as a “striker whisperer”, whilst at Villa. Ollie Watkins had already shown himself to be a capable striker, but under Emery he has become one of the league’s best, Jhon Duran who joined Al-Nassr in January is another example of how the Spanish manager can get the best out of players who are not yet household names.

Whilst not a conventional striker, Rashford is likely to be deployed there at times when Watkins is injured or in need of a rest, and if ever there was a manager to get the best out of him, it is likely to be Unai Emery.
