Marcus Rashford pay cut claim made as Man United exit beckons: ‘Fed up’
Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has been told he must take a pay cut to move away from Old Trafford this summer.
Rashford has told the club, along with four other players, that he wants to leave United this summer.
The 27-year-old is chasing a move to Barcelona and was handed a boost in a move to the Spanish giants when their top target Nico Williams signed a new 10 year deal with current club Athletic Bilbao.
Rashford spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, but his wage package was too much for the Midlands side to afford to bring him back on a permanent basis.

Minto issues stark Rashford message
Speaking on talkSPORT, former Charlton and Chelsea defender Scott Minto was reacting to Henry Winter’s transfer update on Rashford.
Winter understands Rashford has not told Manchester United he wants to leave, but a move abroad is likely as he accepts Ruben Amorim does not see a future for him at the club and wants to play at the 2026 World Cup for England.
Minto responded to the news by stating: “This is nonsense, to be fair to Henry [Winter] he’s close to Marcus Rashford and obviously he’s quite happy to put the message out there.
“The bottom line is, and Henry is absolutely right, how much does he want to play for England in the World Cup, he has to be playing for a top side this coming season.”
Minto then went on to say that the forward should take a pay cut to accommodate a move away from United: “You’re going to have to take a massive drop, maybe even 50%, maybe even a little bit more.
“Or are you saying you’re not going to so Manchester United have got to keep on paying now. If he really loves football and if he really wants to play for England in the World Cup, he’s earned enough money he should just drop what he needs to do to play for the club.
“I don’t think of it that he doesn’t want to play for United, I think its just as much if not more that United don’t want him anymore and now he’s trying to look for a club and he’s almost trying to curry flavour with United fans.
“They’ve seen how he’s acted over the last three or four years. He’s had that one really good season where he got the great contract off the back of it and he’s been miles off it since.
“United fans are fed up with it.”

Rashford’s World Cup dream lies on transfer verdict
Football Insider verdict
To earn a place in Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad Rashford is right that he must leave Old Trafford.
Williams’ rejection of Barcelona makes a move to the Nou Camp look more likely and that would be Rashford’s dream destination.
Playing for one of the world’s biggest club’s and in the Champions League, Rashford would be able to send a strong message to Tuchel should he perform well.
Appearances | 457 |
Goals | 147 |
Assists | 83 |
There also seems to be a lack of choice unless he reduces his wage demands with most club’s unable to pay his current package.
Rashford could be an asset for Tuchel next summer and his performances at Aston Villa reminded the German what he could offer in attack with his pace, dribbling and finishing attributes.
Tuchel though also has plenty of options to choose from and the likes of Bukayo Saka, Cole Palmer and Eberechi Eze are all currently ahead of Rashford in the pecking order.
